Weyyakin Gate spans 70 feet in Sun Valley, Idaho, entrance for 99 luxury residences in an inner mountain ranch like setting on US 95 at south entrance to Ketchum. Two logs in opposing directions are cinched together by heavy wrought iron straps with heavy through bolt in the middle. Logs are from the nearby mountains with a base elevation over 6,000 feet. The criss-cross cradles are my Rocky Mountain version of a column capital. The river rock tapered base was a design contribution by the generous lead design principal. Years later that designer used my dual log beam as a feature design element in the five new ski lodges on Mount Baldy for the Sun Valley Corporation. In a rustic sense it is a Vierendeel Truss.

Project Coordinator on large projects and Team CADD Manager for this project with twelve architects for the Podium that had Conference Spaces at Ground Level and Bridge Level Retail Concourse that was to be the most opulent on The Strip and a skytop restaurant. I would also coordinate with the CADD manager for another nine architects working on the hotel tower in Honolulu.

My project was where is excavation at bottom of photo behind construction wall on Flamingo Blvd. My photo was taken from 20th Floor, just below a one story high, Roman style column capital of first WATG Tower, during field visit for my coordination meeting concerning CAD with 40 engineers on the project..

It was my questions after ther project was 15 months old, "Why is there not a restaurant at the top?" A week later the lead designer brought up the idea in the weekly meeting with Caesars in Las Vegas.
Another time the design team of three was stymied with how to provide deliveries to the luxury retail spaces without being seen in the 24 foot wide by 30 foot high concourses with expensive high neo-classical finishes. "Interstitial Spaces!" was my answer that needed to continue with explanation that Interstitial Levels above and below the public spaces provide vertical Back of House access.

Successful Prototype Generation
Making sure design was technically competent while developing designer goals as the assistant manager for this project that launched Yardhouse into a national chain of 17 restaurants. Prior to this the owner had one restaurant for several years in an existing building in a retail district of Long Beach Harbor, California.

Yardhouse Exterior Elevation from Construction Document Sheet. This CAD is 100% my work including my concept to diagram the long radius of the curved feature parapet with vertical measurements every two stud bays (32 inches). The strip in the middle is Kalwall back lit with amber color for the place that set the new Guiness Book of World Records for Most Beer Taps in the World, a main design feature that had aprox 10% less taps in future projects.
